Our project seeks to open-up St Andrew's Kingsbury (Grade II*) to everyone and to "rekindle" our relationship with the wider local communities. By adopting a more outward looking approach during this project, we aim to improve our understanding of the needs of the wider community by exploring, identifying, and building relationships with new and existing audiences. The project also aims to improve the management of our heritage building and strengthen the capacity and resilience of our organisation.
The main project strands are as follows:
- Exploring and engaging the wider community, identifying new and existing audiences and understanding need and opportunities through a Community Audit and, as part of the Business Plan; and through the Community Officer establishing relationships, and encouraging engagement with the heritage offering at St Andrew’s.
- Consulting the community and local stakeholders on how they wish to use the building through one-to-one conversations during the preparation of the Business Plan and during an Open Day.
- Agreeing the use of space at St Andrew’s in line with consultation feedback and opportunity for income generation identified as part of the Business Plan, enabling a viable capital project to be taken forward in the future.
- Understanding the building through a Conservation Statement and embedding the findings into all heritage engagement and learning via the Heritage Engagement Consultant. Community research project to be offered during the process for up to 4 volunteers.
- Delivering x 2 Training Workshops for new and existing volunteers:
- How to Develop and Deliver a Heritage Fund Project
- ‘Welcoming’
- Trialling four new heritage-led community focussed activities to help engage with new audiences and meet local need, as identified.
- A governance review to develop the PCC's organisational resilience, in line with taking on more activities, community engagement, and a future capital project.
- On completion of this initial project, a larger capital project will be developed, which will result in the building being removed from the Heritage at Risk register.
